The Fender Jazzmaster 62 Reissue guitar’s pickups are a unique mesh of warmth, clarity, punch, twang, and bite. Through fuzz you can nail the shoegaze/no wave/noise rock sound and through organic tube distortion it gets sort of a Beatles Helter Skelter or Revolution thing going on (bridge pickup). Through Both pickups it sounds a bit like a strat and can give you some really clear bluesy tones. Through the neck pickup it has a darker punch or twang sound that I’ve never heard on any other guitar. Finally the bridge pickup is really bright and punchy, but can be dialed down with the tone nob for more mid-range clarity.
While the tone of a Fender Jazzmaster 62 Reissue does not have the sustain of a strat or gibson, the lack thereof makes it so you can play incredibly clear arpeggios at higher levels of crunch. This also gives the guitar more attack and makes it more responsive to how it is played. This is perhaps my favorite part about the instrument.
