I was playing a Sunburst Jazzmaster Electric Guitar version of one of these a few years ago in a local store and could not get out of my mind. I went to the guitar a little longer and ended up buying it. I’ve never owned a Jazzmaster before, but I’ve always liked the style. I am primarily a strat player for about 20 years. I still love the sounds and tones strats, they all have their own, but this is my true love Jazzmaster.
First, the Sunburst Jazzmaster Electric Guitar’s neck is described as a “C”, I think, which is probably true, but there is much stockier than a neck Fender modern, but in a good way. I have a strat Jimmie Vaughn that starts at a chunky V then narrows to a C around the 12th fret. This Jazzmaster neck has the same form all the way up. I also like the 9.5 “radius, which I think is the most comfortable for me. The tremolo took a little getting used to, since the bar is much more than a Start, but I now prefer the feel of the Jazzmaster trem. I find that I do not have adjustment problems, but I generally that shimmer and agreements do not make major dive bombing.
